If you see a transaction on your credit card or bank account statement from ACT* or ACTIVE-Network, the transaction most likely relates to a registration or payment you made for an event or activity which is managed by an organization using an ACTIVE Network system.
The ACTIVE Network is a software company that facilitates activity registrations and online payments for various organizations across different industries, including endurance sports (like running, swimming, and cycling), team sports (such as baseball, basketball, football, and soccer), camping (reservation services), business conferences, and school-related groups.
Charges at your local rec centre, swimming pool, public golf course fees, campground reservations and marathon race registrations are usually some of the most common types of charges where the merchant descriptor will be ACT* or Active-Network preceding the organization name prefix on your credit card or bank account statement.
Some people have encountered an annual renewal fee that has been charged to their credit card despite the fact that they didn’t sign up for any sort of a service.
Apparently, if you register for an event through Active Network, like an ironman race, for example, you may inadvertently sign up for Active’s 30 day trial to their Active Advantage program, a premium membership program offered by the ACTIVE Network that gives exclusive discounts on the activities and goods that you may enjoy.
The problem is that many people who are registering for events through the Active Network don’t realize that by accepting the 30 day trial period, they are inadvertently signing up for the Active Advantage program. This means that after the 30 day trial period is over, your annual membership is in place and you will be charged $99.95 annually. In order to avoid this annual fee, you will need to opt out of this membership.
